UCD U-20B 55 - 0 Guinness RFC
The Under 20 B’s enjoyed a convincing win over Guinness RFC yesterday afternoon. Playing with pace and looking to keep the ball alive at every opportunity Collidge managed to score nine tries and converted five of them to win the game fifty five points to nil. Although Collidge dominated throughout Guinness to their credit never gave up and kept going right up to the final whistle.
First half tries from Tim Gleeson, Eoin Daly, Shane O’Meara and Joe Mackenzie and two conversions from Ross O’Brien saw Collidge lead twenty four points to nil at half time.
Encouraged at half time by captain Maurice Deasy and out half Daniel Clifford to keep the pace of their game up, Collidge went on to record five more tries in the second half. The second half try scorers were James Finnegan (2), Fergal Lynch, Hugo Boylon and Tim Gleeson, three of the second half tries were converted (two by out half Clifford and one by centre O’Brien).
It was pleasing that Collidge played at pace yesterday and played with ambition for the entire eighty minutes, the score line could have been greater but a number of the best passages of play went unfinished thanks to some glaring handling errors just metres from the Guinness line. Winger Josh Morton was also close to a try but he was judged to have knocked the ball on when going over for a try in the bottom left corner.
Although UCD played some very good rugby at times there is still plenty for the lads to work on as we face into our last two league matches before the semi final.
Another encouraging aspect from yesterday was the number of squad players (both injured & non-playing) who came down to watch yesterday. Thanks also to all the parents who came out to support yesterday afternoon.

Many thanks again to Pete Herangi, Dr Tom Field & physio Sarah Gleeson for all their help yesterday.
Also thanks to the J1’s (especially David Nyhan, Joe McGinley & Daragh Geraghty) for imparting some of their vast expertise last Thursday night, although training with and against such luminaries can be quite daunting I think the lads are slowly getting used to being in their company and are already looking forward to the next session !
Thanks to popular demand the next installment of interviews with the 20 B’s are due to take place shortly and will be available early next week.
