Day 11, 26th August 2010
An early training session in Paul Roos College kicked off the final leg of our journey. We trained well in difficult conditions and this was encouraging to see. Unfortunately Daisy (James Thornton) and Curlsey (Niall Earls) are both injured. This leaves no choice but to put myself (Andy Cummiskey) into 10- there's trouble!
Again DJ Smawley (Michael Cawley) cultured our ears by hooking up his iPod to the radio and banging out the tunes! Our trip to Robben Island was again cancelled due to stormy conditions out at sea. However, we did visit Langa, a nearby township to conduct our coaching clinic. We provided their local team, the 'Busy Bees' with 80 rugby balls, 50 cones and a 90 minute training session. It was an incredibly enjoyable experience and definitely the highlight of the tour off the pitch. The kids were full of energy and responded well to the games we introduced to them. It put perspective on life at home in Ireland. These kids make do with such little resources and this was a real eye opener. After their sing song we introduced them to the Yirawadee- a little less rhythmic than their song but still not a bad effort!
After the tour of the township we made our way back to Cape Suites for dinner and a video session. Tomorrow is a huge day for us as we are playing our last match of the tour against False Bay RFC. The team to face False Bay RFC at 20h tomorrow is:
