Tour Blog

(20 Aug 2010)

We had such Good Hope for this afternoon's match that we decided to venture to the Cape thereof to take in the scenery.

Another early start awaited us on day 4. Unfortunately the wind ensured we would have to wait another day to go up Table Mountain.  Despite the windy conditions, the sun was shining making it a perfect day to tour the cape peninsula.

We made two short stops at Hout Bay and Chapman's Peak on our way to the Cape of Good Hope. Shandor (Rob  Shanley) and Calvo (Cailbhe Doherty) even managed to feed some seals at Hout Bay.

Tour guide 'Brianopedia' Cawley was able to tell us about the historic significance of the Cape. Although entirely inaccurate, these facts made for an entertaining bus journey. After too many photos taken, we were back on the bus to Cape Suites for lunch.

Preparations for tomorrow night's kangaroo court took place en-route back to camp. Dáibhí, our in-house council put the finishing touches on the originating notices and a motion for discovery for any further 'Brianopedia' facts. This is sure to be scrutinised and duly punished.

The training game against UCT was an excellent way to ease us into the season. We played some good rugby but I'm sure Vinny (Vinny Hammond) will be able to pick out some flaws.

On a lighter note Crokey (Kevin Croke) has become a father and we are delighted to welcome Juliet, our newest UCD supporter into the club!  Congratulations to Crokey and Addie!
