It took all of 24 hours to reach our final destination passing through Abu Dhabi and Johannesburg en route.
Probably the most worrying moment of the journey was the disappearance of Finbar the cheetah (twice). However it wasn't all gloom for Finbar. He did manage to make it into the cockpit to meet the captain (Captain Risky- not exactly a reassuring name for our nervous flyers). Everything ran smoothly until Keelan McKenna took a wrong turn out of the arrivals area and went missing for 10 minutes.
When we pulled up outside Cape Suites we were all very impressed with our new home for the next 5 nights. Our first training session took place at University of Cape Town where the spectacular Table mountain and the vintage lecture halls look down onto the rugby pitch. Training was encouraging for the coaching staff considering most people were working off 4 hours sleep.
A steak dinner was greatly appreciated on the Waterfront after our long journey. A few quiet pints capped off a successful first day in South Africa.
