UCD RFC would like to wish Ronnie McCormack, who retired from rugby recently due to a neck injury, all the best for the future and thank him for his many years of service to the club. UCD Director of Rugby, John McClean paid this tribute to Ronnie:
“Ronnie traveled to Australia with the Leinster Schools team in 1995. On that tour squad, which contained such players as Ciaran Scally, Leo Cullen, Bob Casey, it was to Ronnie that we turned whenever the scrum was threatened. He joined UCD in 1997 and with Michael Moynagh and David Blaney formed a front row that took College from Division 3 to Division 1. His move to Connacht and Ulster took him away from Belfield for a few years but on his return to Leinster he again joined UCD. In recent years his appearances have been infrequent but whenever released by Leinster he made himself available for the AIL team.
In an age when lesser players and props have won full caps Ronnie had to settle for “A” appearances culminating in a try scoring Churchill Cup win. In 2009 he was a member of the Heineken Cup winning Leinster team.
All in UCD will wish Ronnie every success in his post retirement career.”
