Rugby
This year UCD RFC's Junior rugby fields three teams on a weekly basis, J1, J2 and J4.
The J1 team compete in the
Re/Max Junior 1 Metro League Section B
, the J2 team in the
Re/Max Junior 2 Metro League Section B
and the J4s play in the Leinster J4 league - pool 1.
These teams cater for players of all levels and each team has its own management team consisting of manager, coaches, doctors and physios.
The Junior Club is represented on the rugby club's Executive Committee by the Junior Rugby Committee. This committee is chaired by Derek Scally. Other members of the committee are Shane Geraghty, Fred Gilligan and Vinny Hammond.
The appointment this year of Vinny Hammond as Junior Club co-ordinator is a measure of the committment towards junior rugby within the club. Vinny works with all junior teams to co-ordinate training, matches and social events.
Some of the social events that have been held so far this season include a "Pink night" and a Halloween Fancy dress night at the greyhound racing in Harold's Cross.
The Junior Committee are currently organising a junior tour to Scotland which will take place in February 2007.
