The 56th Annual Colours Match took place on Thursday 6th March 2008. The pre-match lunch, co-hosted by UCD and Trinity, was held in Old Belvedere Rugby Club.
The lunch was attended by over 200 people and Tom Kavanagh, Chairman of the Colours Committee, got things under way by welcoming all to the new venue for this year. David Bergin, President of UCDRFC, and David Duffy, President Dublin University, both gave short speeches and lunch got under way.
The guest speaker after the lunch was Jim O'Callaghan, who made a terrific speech, even taking time to take us through a match report for the 26th Colours from 1977- Trinity won the match but the headline in the Irish Times for this report was titled "Trinity triumph marred by ugly incidents".
The match, which took place in the newly refurbished Donnybrook, resulted in a comprehensive win for UCD - final score UCD 50 Trinity 20. Kevin Croke was awarded the Man of the Match.
