As part of the centenary celebrations, the Club commissioned a painting of past and current members who have played for both the Club and the British and Irish Lions.
A limited edition of 300 printed copies is on offer to commemorate the Club’s centenary year. The copies have been printed using the Giclee method which not only gives a very high quality reproduction, but will see out the next century of Collidge rugby and beyond.
This is a wonderful gift for Christmas or birthdays, even anniversaries. It will serve as a fond reminder of the Club’s contribution to the list of Irish rugby greats and will resonate throughout Ireland’s professional ranks both at home and abroad whether hung in the home or the office.
The portrait was painted by Peter Deighan, a native of Monaghan now based in the UK where he has earned a considerable reputation. He was the artist for the first official portrait of John Major as Prime Minister. He has also painted Mary Robinson, Sean McBride, and Cardinal Basil Hume, but he is best known for his portraits of leading figures in sport particularly horse racing (including horses) and golf.
He has worked extensively for JP McManus and has portrayed Lester Piggott, Pat Eddery and Willie Carson as well as Seve Ballasteros, Nick Faldo and Greg Norman. Others who have sat for him include Barry McGuigan, Jimmy Greaves, Steve Davis, Michael O’Hehir.

All proceeds from the sale of these pictures will be contributed directly to the UCD RFC Centenary Fund which has been established to see Collidge Rugby continue to produce some of Ireland’s best rugby players into the next centennial and beyond.
