Centenary 1910 - 2010
UCD Rugby Club has been a senior club since 1919 - throughout the past century the Club has played an important role in the life of the University and in Leinster and Irish rugby.
The Centenary Season starts in August and runs through to May 2011. The first major initiative is a 1st Team Squad Tour to South Africa, the first time that UCD have toured South Africa. A 36 person squad, including management and coaches, Captained by Andy Cummiskey, is travelling to Cape Town on August 16th. While there they will be
playing fixtures in Cape Town and Stellenbosch and they will be using the fortnight together to undertake a rigorous pre-season preparation so that they are primed for the season ahead.
While in South Africa, they will also take the opportunity to coach in the Townships thereby giving something back to the communities they are visiting.
The Centenary Golf Classic is took place on Friday 3rd September at Royal Tara Golf Club, Co Meath. The course is an excellent park land track and the event was another success for the golf committee.

The Club is staging a special Centenary Match versus the Combined Universities at the UCD Bowl on Friday 5th November. This game will pitch the 1st Team against the best players from Trinity, UCC, Queens and NUIG. The match takes place on November 5th, on the eve of the Ireland South Africa match at the Aviva Stadium.
The Centenary Dinner is scheduled for Friday March 25th 2011 in the O’Reilly Hall. This will be a highlight of the season at which the UCD RFC Centenary Team will be announced.
A Centenary Players Ball will take place in early 2011.
Finally, a Centenary publication tracing the history and recollections of players, administrators and members will be produced during the season.
