As Collidge embarks on its second centenary it is with great honour and pride that I captain and lead the club for the 2011/ 12 season. This year will undoubtedly be memorable, not just for the rugby that we endeavour to play but also for the camaraderie created amongst players and coaches at all levels of the club.
This season marks a transition in personnel at UCD RFC as Mr. Bobby Byrne and Mr. Frederick Gilligan fill the roles of Director of Rugby and Chairman of the Club respectively. Although changes have occurred, the club will continue its ethos of making UCD RFC a competitive and enjoyable place to play rugby.
With changes made to the All Ireland League format, we anticipate a highly competitive playing environment exemplified by the fact that we are the only Leinster team in Division 1B. We eagerly await competing at this level and look forward to the challenges posed by this division.
UCD RFC has an abundance of influential figures at the forefront of the club. We, as players are forever grateful to the unwavering dedication of the various committees that ensure the club moves in the right direction and ultimately results in Collidge being a great place to play.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new and existing members, visitors and supporters alike. Finally I hope that you have many memorable afternoons at the UCD Bowl and enjoy the pre and post match hospitality.
